Sri Lanka’s voters showed yesterday how change can come without noise, without provocation, lies and the incoherent rage that marks one half of the US presidential election. For that matter, the Indian general election, too, April-June, saw the ruling National Democratic Alliance campaign on a platform of communal hate and division. It failed, but the campaign has left ugly wounds on an already ailing body politic.
