What is Fountain Ink?

Fountain Ink was founded in 2011 as a monthly print magazine that published reportage, essays, interviews and photo stories with a focus on India and Asia. It ceased publication of the print magazine in March 2020. It is now back as a all-new subscription-only digital magazine that publishes reportage, documentary films, podcasts, newsletters, and original works of fiction. You can know more about our work and legacy here.

What does a subscription include?

Both our monthly and annual subscription plans include access to all our journalism including longform reportage, documentary films, subscriber-only newsletters; and original works of fiction. A subscription also gives you access to our rich archive of award-winning journalism. Details of subscription plans can be found here

Can I read something for free

While almost all of our journalism is behind a paywall, from time to time we make certain stories free to read. The best way to sample our journalism is to take a monthly plan.

Do you offer refunds?

All our subscription plans are non-refundable. However, if you have an issue with our work, we would love to hear from you. Please write to for all editorial feedback.

What payment modes are accepted?

We accept payment through all Visa, Mastercard (including Maestro) and Amercian Express cards. At this time we are not able to accept payments through netbanking, UPI, Rupay and American Express cards issued in India.
